‘Driven Barber’ is the creation of William Halkiw, a Toronto Lawyer, car collector and developer of the ‘Galleries Lofts’ on Morrow Avenue in Toronto’s west end who, along with his business partner, entrepreneur Thomas Bock, thought it would be a great idea to open a cool, funky, vintage style barber shop offering traditional, top-notch grooming services for men with precision haircutting and beard trimming, and old-fashioned hot towel straight blade shaves, in an environment filled with authentic, museum quality automotive and barber shop memorabilia, all of which combine to create the ultimate grooming and visually stimulating experience, even if you are not a car guy.

Conveniently located in Toronto’s west end at 2005 Dundas Street West, close to High Park and Roncesvalles Village, in a hub where grand and boutique art galleries co-exist with auto repair shops, brew pubs and emerging loft developments, and where there is still free street parking right in front of the shop between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on weekdays, and all day on weekends.

Ironically, yet fittingly, a barber shop operated out of the exact same location 80 years ago, and a “curb-side” gas station was located just a few doors away.

Open 6 days a week and for extended hours to accommodate any schedule. You can pre-book your appointment for our broad selection of services by phone or online, or just take your chances as a walk-in.

A real traffic signal light greets all walk-ins with a green, yellow or red light depending on the wait time, but we can assure you that any wait is enjoyable. Grab a seat on our authentic Herman Miller Los Angeles Airport seating and pick up a 60’s car mag, vintage Playboy or current auto publication. Take a seat at our cappuccino bar for an authentic espresso or a good old Tim Horton’s coffee…the choice is yours. Stroll about the shop and check out the memorabilia, look for the right hair or beard product to suit your specific needs and budget from our broad selection of natural driven grooming products, plug in and work on your laptop at our bar charging terminals, or just see what’s on TV.

Then prepare yourself for what will surely be one of the most amazing haircuts, shaves or beard trims that you have ever had.

Sit back in one of our authentic vintage Hercules or Belmont barber chairs and tell your barber exactly what you want, get their professional input and then let the experience begin.

Our shop manager and lead barber is Frank Manicapelli – a highly skilled and versatile barber with over 28 years of experience, culminating with his last posting at the downtown Toronto location of Truefitt & Hill, who have been barbers to British Royalty since 1805.

Your hair will be precision and texture cut, shampooed and washed, and then finished with a blow dry and/or the application of one of a broad selection of finishing products such as gel, wax, paste or mousse – to suit your specific style. The service will be topped off with a neck shave and massage.

A full facial shave or beard trim will take more time as they involve the application of steaming hot towels at 3 different phases in the process, 2 separate cocoa butter massages, 2 separate hot lather applications and 2 separate shaves with a sterile “one-use”, disposable straight blade. Close off with a soothing and invigorating cold towel compress to close the pores, the application of after shave balm and your choice of finishing after shave products.

Driven Barber is committed to providing the best possible service and grooming experience for a broad spectrum of hair and beard styles and alternatives…ranging from traditional classic cuts to whatever you want…with amazing results at competitive prices to keep our customers coming back.

We shall be expanding our services to include special incentives with local shops offering a wide range of automotive services while you visit our shop or in between visits, as well as the sale of “must have” men’s accessories, select automotive memorabilia, and exotic cigars.

We plan to launch the first-of-its-kind Driven Barber “on the road” mobile barber shop, so stay tuned.
